This blog is dedicated to the exploration of headwear-related needs of women experiencing chemotherapy-induced hair loss. A part of my master's thesis project, the blog has been created to help me gain knowledge about the needs, preferences and suggestions related to headwear from women experiencing hair loss due to chemotherapy. Your comments on this blog will be greatly appreciated and might be used in my research. No personally identifying information will be mentioned. The insight gained will be used to develop headwear that will better address women's needs and help improve their quality of life. Thank you!
If you wear wigs do you feel they are comfortable to wear?
Full wigs were too scratchy and itchy, and I had two little boys and was afraid they'd pull a wig right off my head! That's why I went with the Underhair from Hip Hats with Hair: http://www.hatswithhair.com/ProductUnderhair.aspx
It has a soft, cotton top, and a hat on top anchored it pretty tightly on my head.
I've tried wigs, they were all scratchy and itchy. Unfortunately I lost my job shortly before being diagnosed with breast cancer. As soon as chemo finishes I need to return to the job search. Obviously it is unacceptable to wear hats or scarves to a job interview! Still searching for an affordable wig that doesn't drive me crazy with the itching.
I never could wear wigs; they were very scratchy and uncomfortable.
